Truck fire on the turnpike

A truck hauling cardboard caught fire last week on the Turner Turnpike near Chandler and required firefighters to extinguish it. The fire created a cloud of smoke and caughtsome nearby grass on fire.

Lankford meets in Stroud

U.S. Sen. James Lankford and state Rep. Kyle Hilbert, R-Depew, were in Stroud last week for a meeting hosted at Stroud Hospital byAVEM Health Partners. Stroud Action coalition members shared their vision and plans to address quality of life issues in the area.

Pride of Chandler finishes first

The Pride of Chandler competed at Holdenville Saturday against 24 bands ranging from Class 2A to 5A. Chandler placed first in the 3A Blue Class in the prelims, along with receiving high score in percussion and colorguard with an advance to the finals.

Incredible night

It was a season’s worth of highlight reel plays for Casmen Hill Friday night. The Chandler senior running back peeled off touchdown runs of 54, 82, 61 and 66 yards against Bethel and finished with an astounding 349 yards on just 16 carries.

Underdog Pirates win it all

Dale’s High School baseball team has captured its second state championship under the guidance of Coach Eddie Jeffcoat, defeating Silo 18-11 in the finals played at Bricktown Ball Park in Oklahoma City.
