4-H, FFA kids awarded over $30k

The Chandler 4-H and FFA Ag Booster Club awarded more than $31,000 in scholarships and livestock sponsorships to local youth members duringitsMayawards presentation.

Five FFA seniors were each awarded $1,000 scholarships in recognition of their dedication, leadership and excellence in their respective agricultural fields of study. These scholarships honor studentswhohavedemonstrated a strong commitment to agriculture and have excelled both in and out of the classroom.

In addition, the Booster Club awarded 26 $1,000 livestock sponsorships to hardworking 4-H and FFAexhibitors. Throughout the past year, these students devoted countless hours to raising and caring for their livestock projects, including cattle, sheep, goats and hogs. Their animals were exhibited at local and county livestock shows, with several exhibitors advancing to compete at the Oklahoma Youth Expo (OYE) in Oklahoma City.

These opportunities would not be possible without the generous support of our community, volunteers, parents and local businesses. Funds raised through the Chandler 4-H and FFAAg BoosterClubAnnualAuction help provide financial assistance for livestock projects, scholarships, 4-H and FFA camps, leadership development activities, improvements to the school barn facilities and many other youthfocused initiatives.

The Chandler 4-H and FFA Ag Booster Club’s mission is to provide youth in the Chandler area with both financial and logistical support as they discover, develop and pursue their dreams in agriculture.Through these experiences, students gain valuable life skills including responsibility, work ethic, leadership, and perseverance.

As one project year comes to a close, Chandler’s young agricultural leaders are already hard at work preparing for the next. Members are spending countless hours caring for and developing this year’s livestock projects, continuing the tradition of excellence that makes the Chandler agricultural community so strong.
