Candidate filing begins for Carney special election

Candidate filing for the Carney Public Schools Board of Education Special Election for an unexpired term begins on Wednesday, June 17, according to the Lincoln County Election Board.

Declarations of Candidacy will be accepted for the following office: Carney School District, Office No. 3.

To file, potential candidates must submit a Declaration of Candidacy to the Lincoln County Election Board between June 17 and 19, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Filing packets can be found on the State Election Board website or picked up at the County Election Board office in the Lincoln County Courthouse, according to a press release.

They must also submit a Voter Registration Verification form. These can be found at the County Election Board office as well, or by logging into the OK Voter Portal. The information on the verification from must match that on the Declaration of Candidacy.

Secretary of the Lincoln County Election Board Dena Jo Bromley said that Contests of Candidacy must be filed no later than Friday, June 19, at 5 p.m. They can only be filed by another candidate for that office. Contests against unopposed candidates may be filed by contacting the County Election Board.
