Prague School Board approves handbook

The Prague School Board approved hand books for the next school year as well as a handful of personnel decisions at its regular meeting on July 13.

The Board approved student handbooks for the high school, middle school, elementary school and early childhood center at the meeting, along with staff andstudentcommunication platforms. The following were approved: Prague Public Schools Facebook page, Parent Square, Remind, Gmail and Google Education Suite; Prague FFA Chapter Facebook page and Pride of Prague Facebook Page.

The Board approved the employment of Colby Herring as assistant baseball coach as well During the superintendent’s report, James Payne reported that demolition on the old high school was set to start, but the City must issue an occupancy certificate first. Interior demolition has started, with crews disconnecting wires and electricity and full demo set to start on Aug. 3.

Payne also reported that Prague has 27 students transferring out for the 2026-27 school year and 34 transferring in. He has also been speaking with the Prague Police Department on a Cops Grant for fencing around the new school, key card access control to the doors, camera and film on the windows for extra security. He plans to connect with the Prague Fire Department, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Emergency Management.

The superintendent also reported that they are currently shifting bus routes from four to three as they’re losing a bus driver. The school district needs more drivers and those interested can email Payne at jpayne@prague.ok.us.

The Boad also approved the surplus of several items, an Alternative Education Coop with Dale Schools and administrative contracts for FY27.
