Marilyn Agnes Horinek Jarvis, resident ofChandler,Oklahoma, was born July 29, 1939, in Ponca City, Oklahoma. She departed this life on November 13, 2024, in Enid, Oklahoma, at the age of 85 years.
Marilyn was the daughter of George and Agnes (Voegele) Horinek. She graduated from high school in Newkirk, Oklahoma. Marilyn married William “Bill” Joseph Jarvis at St. Francis Catholic Church in Newkirk, Oklahoma, May 17, 1961. Marilyn served as co-owner/bookkeeper of both family businesses (Independent Vendor for Borden’s & Bill’s Auto Supply) for close to 50 years. Marilyn was a devoted Catholic and served many roles. She was a member of Our Lady of SorrowsAltar Society (Chandler,OK),wasawardedtheCatholicWomanof Achievement Award, was an oblate of St. Gregory’s Abbey in Shawnee, Oklahoma, was bookkeeper for St. Louis Catholic Church for many years and she organized many rosary rallies. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and crafts. She was devoted to her faith and family and will be greatly missed.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband Bill, her parents, and one sister (Catherine Schauer). Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Dewayne Colwell of Enid, Oklahoma, Linda and Michael McCord of Celina, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Vicky Jarvis of Chandler; four grandchildren, Taylor, Colton, Connor, and James, one great-grandchild, Ryder, three brothers, Bill Horinek, Ernie Horinek, Steve Horinek, two sisters, Susie Ducket, Rosalie Terry, other relatives and many friends.
The Rosary was held Friday, November 15, 2024, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Chandler OK. Funeral Mass was held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church with Father Ruckel officiant. Burial followed at Oak Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler.
