Monday was the official start of high school football in Oklahoma and the Chandler Lions joined other schools in getting their first practice under their belts. Practices are helmets-only until Friday, when players may don their pads. The season begins on Aug.

Area bands: eight to the bar

The excitement was palpable in the band room at Meeker High School.Students were sprawled out in one large group talking over each other and exhibiting energy that was surprising for how early in the morning it was.
