Lady Lion golfers qualify for state

Chandler’s girls golf team shot a season-best 366 Monday at Riverside Golf Course in Clinton and qualified for the Class 3A state tournament.The state tournament will be May 4-5 at The Territory Golf and Country Club in Duncan.

Playoffs for the spring sports season begin this week, with slow-pitch softball districts onWednesday andThursday and girls golf regionals earlier this week.Three area schools will play their one-day slowpitch districts at home on Wednesday and four at home on Thursday.

The Chandler girls and Stroud boys took all the drama out of the 66 Conference golf tournament last week.The Lady Lions had the top two finishers and won the girls championship by 51 strokes. The Tigers had the top three finishers in the boys tournament and won by 49 strokes.

Senior Jessen Leathers clubbed a home run, a double and a single and drove in three runs to lead Stroud to an 8-3 win over Meeker in the 66 Conference tournament finals Saturday at Prague.

Carney softball

The future is here for the Carney Lady Bulldogs slow-pitch team.After going 8-8 last year and being eliminated from the playoffs in district, the young team has shot off to an 8-1 start this spring and holds the No. 13 ranking in Class B.
