Beware: fire season’s here

While Lincoln County is no stranger to wildfires, the area could be looking at a higher risk this year.A monthly report from the National Interagency Fire Center in Idaho released on Jan. 2 reported that underlying dryness has been building in much of the Southern Area of the U.S.

Meeker man wounded in shooting

A landlord in Meeker was shot and injured on New Year’s Eve morning after he pointed a handgun at a Lincoln County deputy who had responded to a call that morning.Lincoln County Sheriff Kevin Garrett reported his deputy was dispatched to 101152 S. 3376 Rd. in Meeker just before 8 a.m.

Cruelty case back in court

A Stroud man facing 408 counts of felony animal cruelty will return to court next week for another felony disposition docket.Representation for Jerry Hine requested that they return in one week when he appeared on Jan. 6 at the Lincoln County Courthouse, as they need more time for consultations.
