Depew 57, Davenport 8

The Davenport Bulldogs playing their final regular season contest at home suffered a 57-8 setback to the Depew Hornets last Friday night.

The Bulldogs now prepare for the first round of the playoffs, traveling to Drumright Friday night. Coach John Greenfield said kickoff is at 7 p.m.

Drumwright is the District B-7 champion, the coach stated.

Greenfield, talking about last Friday night’s contest with the Hornets, said, “We had several pick sixes I think. They moved the ball down the field and scored, and we came back and we moved it down the field, then fumbled into the end zone.

“They kicked an onside kick and scored, and then we threw a pick six and it was 20-0 and we’d had the ball one time,” the coach noted.

Greenfield commented, “They just beat us. We didn’t bring our A game. Now we go north to Drumwright Friday night. At least it’s not very far,” he continued.

The coach pointed out that none of the Bulldogs was injured during Friday night’s contest. “We are about as healthy as we have been all year.”
