Hattie Clyde Armstrong

Hattie Clyde Armstrong was born on April 25, 1925, and passed away on January 28, 2025, at the age of 99. (Almost made it to 100.) Hattie was a resident of Georgetown, Texas. The daughter of Mehan Bailey Farmer and Mackie Matheney Farmer, she was born, and raised, in Meridian, Mississippi.

She graduated from Meteorology School inAtlanta, Georgia, and worked for three years with the military drawing top-secret weather maps in South Carolina until our troops returned from WWII. Clyde’s being a female meteorologist for the military in those days was an exceptional feat.

In 1948, she moved with her family to Del City, Oklahoma, and met and married her husband, Lloyd E. Armstrong. After his retirement of 20 + years in the Air Force, they moved to Wellston, Oklahoma, in 1966 and raised Black Angus cattle, pigs, and chickens. They always had a big garden and canned fruits and vegetables to share with family and friends. After Lloyd’s passing, Clyde stayed on the 160 acres for 10 years. In 2008, she sold the farm and moved to an apartment in Meeker for a couple of years. She enjoyed the Meeker Senior Citizens Center, frequenting often. She spent the last 10 years living in Georgetown, Texas, near her daughter Vicki.
