Defendant doesn’t show up for trial

A bench warrant has been issued for a defendant whose trial was scheduled to begin last week but who failed to show up for it.

Eric Scott Goodrich, 39 at the time, was charged in Lincoln County District Court on Aug. 17, 2022 with trafficking, a felony, and concealing proceeds of illegal drug activity.

Last week when he failed to show up for the trial, District Judge John Canavan issued a bench warrant for his arrest. The judge further ordered bond be denied pending pickup of Goodrich and that his bond be forfeited.

Assistant District Attorney Kelly Trimble was present ready for the trial as was Goodrich’s attorney Chad Moody.

In Count 1, Goodrich is accused on Aug. 16, 2022 of possessing more than 25 pounds of marijuana in a motor vehicle on the Turner Turnpike while acting in concert with Danis Alexander Chavez.

Count 2 charges Goodrich on Aug. 16, 2022 of concealing proceeds of illegal drug activity consisting of $67,937 cash money in a motor vehicle on the Turner Turnpike in Lincoln County while acting in concert with Danis Alexander Chavez.

State Trooper Matthew Ludwig arrested both Goodrich and Chavez on Aug. 16, 2022 on theTurner Turnpike after making a routine traffic stop.
