The Agra School Board approved an alternative education cooperative waiver request so that the district can run its own program at its regular meeting on Aug. 10.
The waiver request was submitted to the Oklahoma State Board of Education for the 2026-2027 school year and would authorize Agra Public Schools to operate its ownAlternative Education program with fewer than 10 eligible students rather than participate in a cooperative agreement. It also authorizes the superintendent and Board president to execute all required waiver documents and certifications on behalf of the school district.
The Board also approved the 2026-2027 Support Employee Salary Schedule and administrative salary considerations. It also approved allowing Optavise to provide employee benefit education and voluntary benefit enrollment services for school employees.
The Board went into executive session to discuss employment matters. When it returned, it approved the employment of Alexa Gilleland as a fourth grade teacher and Jennifer Orput as an elementary paraprofessional.
The Board approved a contractwiththeOklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education Secondary Career and TechnologyEducationProgram. This authorizes the district to comply with all applicable state and federal Career Tech requirements. It also approved the 2026-2027 Oklahoma THRIVE teacher assignments for Mariah McElhaney, Deanna Pitman, Amy Lasater, Bryan Kauk and Laura Howell.
Student activity fundraisers were also approved for the 2026-2027 school year, including the FFABlue and Gold Sausage Sale, High School Fundraising and Elementary Fundraising activities. Jamie Durban was also designated as the Authorized Representative for the Child Nutrition Program for the school district andSuperintendentDelbert Rossiter was designated as the Title IX coordinator.
The Board approved the ACT Assessment as the state assessment for the high school.
