The education sales tax figures in May show a decline from April in three area school districts in Pottawatomie County and for the DA Justice Center, the Pottawatomie County Treasurer’s office reports.
The Pottawatomie County education sales tax of .495 percent went into effect July 1, 2016 following approval by county voters in November of 2015.
The sales tax amounts received for May are based on retail sales throughout the county during March of 2020, reflecting the mandated closures of non-essential businesses by Gov. Kevin Stitt due to the Coronavirus outbreak.
The March sales were submitted to the Oklahoma Tax Commission in April and distributed back to the county in May.
County Treasurer Wendy Magnus reported the May amount for the McLoud School District is $38,360.64. In April, the figure was $42,795.
McLoud has received a total of $213,443.79 from the tax so far in 2020.
Dale School District’s May amount is $18,008.95. The April check was for $20,091.06. Dale’s total from the tax this calendar year is $100,204.23.
The figure for the North Rock Creek School District in May is $16,886.02. In April it was $18,838.31. Total for 2020 through five months from the tax is $93,956.13.
Also, during May, the Citizen Potawatomi Nation made its second distribution to the schools for the year. The CPN’s first contribution this year was in February.
The CPN’s second distribution of 2020 and total so far for the year to each district includes:
