McLoud Council

McLoud City Council members have adopted a resolution seeking a Community Development Block Grant to continue improvements to the city’s wastewater system in the Heritage Park Addition.

City Manager Buck Day explained the grant would be for $299,999 and the city’s leverage amount is $63,500.

“It’s to extend the existing sewer lines north in the Heritage Park Addition,” he said.

A public hearing was first held and no one spoke during the hearing.

The Council then adopted the resolution for the CDBG application.

Council members also approved a resolution determining the $63,500 leverage amount for the application. They also approved the Citizens Participation Plan for the grant application.

The Council adopted a resolution supplied from the AVEDIS Foundation recognizing First Responders. Kathy Laster, executive director of the Foundation and Dr. Steven Trotter, a board member, made a presentation to Fire Chief Wes Elliott and Acting Fire Chief James Nelson honoring them as part of the recognition.

Council members also discussed deer and duck hunting schedules for Wes Watkins Lake but took no action. Councilman Daniel McClure, Jr., explained the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation is starting a new system where they will manage it and pay the city to do it.

McClure said, “I just want to maximize the opportunities.”

City Operations Manager Cody Roe said about 15 to 20 deer are harvested annually around the lake area.
