Sorority celebrates Founder’s Day

Psi Master chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, Stroud, joined thousands of members throughout the world to celebrate the 94th anniversary of the founding of the organization on April 30, 1931. It was also the 46th anniversary of the chartering of the local chapter.

Pair faces eight felonies

A man from Newalla and a woman from Wellston face a total of eight felonies between them against a child.Galahad Gideon Carroll, 37, Newlla was formally charged in Lincoln County District Court on May 12, 2025 with one count of first degree rape and six counts of lewd acts with a child.

Donations to schools by CVEC

Canadian Valley Electric Cooperative (CVEC), along with Western Farmers Electric Cooperative (WFEC), helped to provide more than $2.4 million to schools in the state, including several schools in Lincoln County and Pottawatomie County, according to a press release from CVEC.

Stroud man face felonies

A Stroud man who has several prior felony convictions is facing a new felony.Charles Buchanan Fields, 54, was formally charged in Lincoln County District Court March 31, 2025 with possession of contraband by an inmate.He appeared before Associate District Judge Joe Dobry March 28.

SSC graduates

Seminole State College in Seminole, OK, held commencement on May 9 at the Raymond Harber Field House.Oklahoma Speaker of the House Kyle Hilbert was the guest speaker and degrees were handed out to graduates by Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs Dr. Bill Knowles.

County students place at event

Five FFA students from Lincoln County ranked first through third place in three different categories at the 2025 Oklahoma FFA Proficiency Awards during the 99th Oklahoma FFA Convention on May 7, according to press releases from the Oklahoma FFA Association.

Not-guilty plea in crash

A driver from Shawnee facing a felony count and a misdemeanor charge following a two-vehicle personal injury traffic collision at U.S. 177 and Highway 66 near Wellston has pleaded innocent during her arraignment.
