The University of Central Oklahoma commencement ceremonies took place on May 8 through 9 at Central’s Hamilton Field House. Among the nearly 1,399 graduates for Spring 2026 are several from the Lincoln County area.

CVEC sponsors 2 at Energy Camp

Canadian Valley Electric Cooperative (CVEC) is sponsoring two students from Prague to attend Energy Camp this summer.Ethan Ziegler and Hank Shelbourne were selected to attend Energy Camp at Camp Canyon in Hinton from May 26 to 28.

On Saturday, May 2, the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence hosted its 40th annual Academic Awards Celebration at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City. Dale High School senior Paul Potts, right, was honored as a member of the 2026 Academic All-State class. The Lincoln County Commissioners discussed the possibility of calling a special election on the dissolution of the E911 Trust Authority Board at their regular meeting on May 19, but ultimately took no action.“They just lost their executive director again.

Stroud City Manager Bob Pearman announced his desire for retirement at the regular City Council meeting on May 14.Pearman plans to continue in his current role until a replacement is found, with the City hoping to post an open position this week.

Stroud teen Payton Hogan was recognized at the Oklahoma Senate on May 5 for his bravery in helping save a man in September 2025. Katherine (Kathy) Mechell Jordan was born to Cosetta and Ray Jordan in 1957. She entered into the afterlife on Monday, May 4, and is joined by her daughter, Katherinea, both of her parents, her sister, Audrey, her grandparents, and her ex-husband, Eddie Wilson.
