Couple to celebrate Golden Anniversary

Jim and Vera Bierd of Stroud are celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary on June 12th. Jimmy Frank Bierd and Vera Mae (Teters) Quinn were married June 12, 1970 in Stroud.

Jim worked at Sun Oil Company and Stroud Oil Company until his retirement. He is also an ordained minister. In addition, Jim served as a Stroud City Councilman for several years.

Vera worked at Sharpe’s Department Store, Stroud First State Bank and Fieldcrest at Tanger Outlet Mall. The couple also owned and operated the Skyliner Motel in Stroud for several years. Both have served in many capacities at their churches over the years.

Jim and Vera have five sons, Gary Quinn and his wife, Julia, of Bartlesville, Okla., Philip Quinn and his wife, Lisa, of Sulphur, La., Jimmy Bierd and wife, Jamie, of Shawnee, Okla., and Bryan Bierd and Chris Bierd who are both deceased.

They have 11 grandchildren, Adam Quinn, Aaron Quinn, Andrew Quinn, Zachary Quinn, Tommy Bierd, Jennifer Bierd, Baley Bierd, Cole Motes, Robert Bierd, Keith Bierd, and Kristi Bierd. In addition, they have 10 great-grandchildren: Sadie Quinn, Atlas Quinn, Beckham Quinn, Rosie Quinn, Riley Bierd, Brandon Bierd, Dalton Bierd, Shelby Molina, Chucky Benavides and Emma Bierd.

Due to the national health concerns, a celebration and reception will be held for them at a later time.
