Ahna Smith, a sophomore at Chandler High School, won the high school division of the CVEC Essay Contest.

Tuesday, October 13, Smith read her winning essay titled “Why We Fly the Flag” at the 20th Annual Dignified Disposal of Unserviceable American Flags Ceremony held in Seminole at the American Legion Softball Field.

This event is sponsored by the American Legion of District # 4 in combination with Canadian Valley Electric Cooperative in Seminole.

Smith was presented with a $250.00 cash scholarship by Amber Himle, Marketing Coordinator for CVEC.
