Felony charges for Carney woman in chase

A Carney woman faces six charges following a reported high speed chase through parts of Lincoln County last month.

Two felonies and four misdemeanors were filed in Lincoln County District Court on March 2 against Brandy Renee Tagg, 38.

Court records show a $20,000 bench warrant was issued for Tagg’s arrest.

The records also show the warrant and return were filed on March 3 of last week. She appeared before Special Judge Emily Mueller on March 5 and the judge set a pre-preliminary hearing for her at 1:30 p.m. on April 1.

The felony charges include endangering others while eluding/attempting to elude a police officer and assault, battery or assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

All the alleged offenses reportedly occurred on Feb. 1, 2021 and in Lincoln County.

The first felony accuses Tagg of increasing her speed and running stop signs up to 80 miles per hour to evade arrest by Officer Randell Burkhead in Lincoln County.

The second felony states Tagg struck the vehicle driven by Burkhead with a motor vehicle using it as a dangerous weapon.

One of the misdemeanors accuses Tagg of speeding in excess of the lawful maximum limit by driving 56 miles per hour in a 30 mile per hour zone on 3470 Road.

Another states she left the scene of an accident involving property damage by leaving the intersection of SH 18 and U.S. 62 after striking the stop sign there and damaging it.

Tagg is also alleged to have transported an open container of intoxicating beverage and of driving with license canceled, suspended, revoked by driving without a valid driver’s license.
