Hearings on sex charges

Preliminary hearings have been scheduled for a Shawnee man facing a total of nine-related sex charges with minor.

Five felony charges of lewd or indecent acts to a child were originally filed Aug. 25 in Lincoln County District Court against Danny Ray Weeks, Jr., 52, of Shawnee.

Four additional felony sex-related charges were filed in Lincoln County District Court against Weeks a short time later.

Preliminary hearings for Weeks on all of those charges are scheduled for 9 a.m. Dec. 16.

A $200,000 bench warrant was originally issued for his arrest on the first five counts. Court records show that the warrant was returned and filed on Aug. 29.

Special Judge Emily Mueller held a hearing on Aug. 29 and ordered the $200,000 bond remain as previously set.

She scheduled Weeks’ initial appearance for 1:30 p.m. Sep. 8. On Sep. 7, the four additional sex-related charges were filed.

With the filing of the additional counts, it brings to three the number of victims who are minors he allegedly violated.

Weeks made his initial appearance before Judge Mueller on the original five charges and she scheduled his pre-preliminary hearing for 1:30 p.m. on Sep. 15. His $200,000 bond remains, she ordered.

On the newest counts, he appeared Sep. 7 before Associate District Judge Sheila Kirk.

She set Weeks’ bond at $50,000 on those charges He made his initial appearance on Sep.15 on those four counts.

Even though Weeks resides in Shawnee, the alleged crimes occurred in Lincoln County, according to the charges.
