Meeker school board meeting

Meeker’s Board of Education this week approved the district’s final Estimate of Needs for 2022-2023.

School Supt. Jeff Pruitt advised the board total revenue estimates are $6,651,466.87. He explained the district, as of July 1, 2022, had a carryover balance of $2,708,181,71 bringing total appropriations for 2022-2023 to $9,359,648.58.

The board also approved a bid of $18,100 from Sowder Irrigation to provide an irrigation system for the Meeker football field and practice field.

Pruitt advised board members the cost would be paid from the General Fund. He also told them that irrigating the baseball field would be addressed later.

Board members approved a bid from Shot Rock LLC for $25,151.16 to upgrade the district’s security cameras.

In other business, the board: Approved the Meeker Youth League to use the old and elementary gyms.

Approved the board meeting dates for 2023.

Approved the expenditure budget by bold function codes.

Without going into executive session, accepted the resignation of Jennifer Brooks, elementary school Aide and approved offering contracts for 2022-2023 to Taylor Hendley, elementary school Aide and Jennifer York, high school Aide.

In their reports, High School Principal Brad Buxton reported enrollment is 208. Middle School Principal Rodney Treat told the board enrollment is up by three to 167 students.
