Meeker’s Town Board of Trustees this week approved a supplemental budget for the fiscal year of 2023-2024 and agreed to tear down the old car wash east of the Fire Department.

Mary Conner, Town Clerk and Treasurer, said the supplemental budget approved is for $101,298.

She said Trustees have approved tearing down the old car wash, removing the structure and using the area for a parking lot. “District 3 County Commission crews are going to help with tearing it down,” Conner explained.

Without going into executive session, Trustees approved the resignation of Meeker Police Officer Raymond Mackin and hired Dallas Covel as a Meeker Police Officer to replace Mackin, Conner said.

Trustees also approved a new Mexican restaurant, located at 118 S. Dawson, to sell alcohol, Conner stated.

Under new business, Conner said the Trustees agreed to make a check payable to Top Tier Tactical for safety vests for the Police Department which they purchased with a JAG grant.

In other business, Trustees: Agreed to make a check payable for $2,043 to Harvest Real Estate and Asset Development due to the company backing the Meeker Farm and Craft Market.

Took no action on the second request by Kathy Boland regarding access to 17½ acres of land at Meeker Lake.

Meeting as the Public Works Authority, Trustees approved the remaining 2022 REAP funds for water systems improvements including: A 20 percent match for ORWA Rural infrastructure grant of $19,080; Phase 2 Valve replacement for $39,996.30; and engineering fees and resident project representative fees based on total percentage of construction.

Conner stated that pay application No. 2 for Sunrise Construction in the amount of $32,490 was approved once the work is completed.
