An early morning two-vehicle traffic collision on the Turner Turnpike last week east of Stroud killed a Bristow man, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.
Troopers said the fatal traffic crash occurred around 7:35 a.m. last Friday about three miles east of Stroud in Lincoln County.
Trooper Ballard of the Traffic Homicide Unit said Enrique Lopez, 44, of Bristow, was pronounced dead at the scene due to trunk-internal injuries. He was transported by the Medical Examiner to the Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s Office in Oklahoma City.
He was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro, Ballard said.
The trooper reported the other driver, Allison Ikley-Freeman, 29, of Tulsa, was taken by Creek County EMS to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. She was later treated and released.
She was driver of a 2015 Honda CRV.
Ballard said the Camaro driven by Lopez was traveling westbound on the Turner Turnpike.
The vehicle hydroplaned and ran off the road to the right, coming to rest facing southbound in the westbound ditch, the trooper stated.
Ikley-Freeman was traveling westbound in her vehicle on the Turner Turnpike, according to the report.
The trooper reported her vehicle ran off the roadway to the right and struck the Camaro. He said Lopez was uninjured before being struck by the Honda CRV.
The trooper said Ikley-Freeman was pinned for approximately 40 minutes and was extricated by the Stroud Fire Department using the Hurst tool.
The trooper listed the cause of the collision as speeds unsafe for weather conditions.
The report stated the roadway was wet and there was heavy rain at the time of the fatal crash.
Condition of Lopez at the time of the collision is under investigation, the trooper said, and Ikley-Freeman’s condition at the time of the crash is listed as apparently normal.
The trooper’s report stated seat belts in the Camaro were equipped and in use and were equipped in the Honda but not in use.
Airbags were equipped and they deployed in both vehicles, the trooper said.
Trooper Ballard was assisted by Trooper Sites and Captain Royster of the Turner Turnpike, the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority, the Stroud Fire Department and Creek County EMS.
