In honor of the Thanksgiving holiday, all county first graders were invited to submit recipes to the paper on “How to Cook a Turkey.”
The following are the children’s versions of how they would cook a turkey.
Agra
Mrs. Molloy’s class
Jordan- I will get a turkey from the store then I will cook it in the microwave for 30 minutes and eat it.
Corbin- I would hunt for a turkey and then put the turkey in the stove for 45 seconds. Then I would take the turkey out and my family would eat it.
Aiden- I would go buy a turkey from the store and put it in the oven for 10 minutes. When it’s done, I might sprinkle a little cheese on it. I would cut the turkey to get it off the bone then I would take it somewhere.
Mason- Me and my dad would go hunting for a turkey. We would kill the turkey then I think I would put it in a pot for 10 minutes. I think I would season it with salt and pepper then cut it up and feast on it.
Isaac- I would buy a turkey from Walmart. Then I would put butter on it and cook it with a pan for 40 minutes.
Kalli- I would put the turkey in a pan and add salt. Then I would put it in the oven for 24 hours, take it out, put it on a turkey plate and eat it.
Betty- I would catch a turkey then gut it and clean it. I would put pepper on the turkey and cook it in the oven for 20 minutes. Then we would decorate it and then eat it.
Andrew- I would cook the turkey in the microwave for 30 minutes and then put it on a plate and eat it.
Kania- I would buy my turkey from Walmart. I will put butter on it and then put it in the oven for 800 minutes. Then I will put it in my stomach.
Levi- I would go hunting with my dad and trap the turkey. Then I would cook it in the oven for 6 minutes. Then I would set it on the outside table to eat.
Grayson- I would go hunting and shoot a turkey then I would pull the feathers out. My cousin Laramie would help me. We would put pepper and seasoning on it. Then we would cut it up and put it on a pan and cook it for 10 minutes in the oven.
Madeline- I would put the turkey in the oven and turn the oven on. I would cook it for an hour maybe, I don’t really know. Then I would eat it.
Brantley- I would probably go hunting for my turkey. I would put salt on it first then cook my turkey in the stove for 5 or 4 minutes then take it out and eat it.
Cynthia- I would put my turkey on a pan and then put it in the oven for 7 minutes. Then I would take it out, cut it up, and eat it.
Corwin- I would buy a turkey from Walmart. I would cook it on the grill for 14 minutes then put it on the table, cut it, and eat it.
Sophia- I would put butter on it and stick it in the oven to cook for 10 minutes.
Laine- I would put some salt on my turkey and then put it in the microwave and get it hot. I would put it in the stove for 24 thousand hours then take it out and eat it.
Aubrie- First I would buy a turkey from Walmart. Then I would heat it in the oven for 15 minutes then take it out and start cutting it. Then I would ask everybody if they want some seasoning. That would be it.
Eva- I would buy a turkey from Walmart then I would put it in the oven for 8 seconds, then get it out and eat it up.
Serenity- I would probably put salt and pepper in the skin then put it in the oven for about like 20 seconds or something like that. Then I would probably stop the timer after I’m done and put a little bit more salt on it. Then that’s all. I would probably make some rice
with it.
Carney
Mrs. Thompson’s class
Weston-First you shoot a tom Turkey. You take off the feathers.
You get a big spoon and get out all of the bad germs. Get a silver pan and cooking gloves. Put it in the oven. Leave it for 3 minutes. Take it out to cool off. Then cut it up and eat it.
Cameron-Get a turkey in the woods. Take the feathers off. Take out the bones. You put it in a big pan and salt and pepper it. Put it in the refrigerator. Next take it out of the refrigerator and put it in the oven. Turn oven on 37 degrees and cook for 6 minutes. Last, put in on the table and eat it.
Tommy-Put the turkey in a pan with lettuce. Salt and pepper it. Put it in the oven for 20 or 30 minutes. If my mom doesn’t like it then maybe 10 minutes. Cook till it gets hot. Let it cool down. Eat it.
Trace-Put the turkey in a big pan. Put garlic in the pan. Put it in the oven for 20 minutes. Check on it and if it is still cold leave it for I more minute. Take it out and let in cool then eat it.
Zoie-buy the turkey at the Dollar Store. Put salt and pepper on the turkey. Then, put it in the microwave. Cook it for 2 minutes. Next, put gloves on because it will burn you. Put it on a pretty plate. Last, get a glass of milk and eat the turkey.
Hazel-First, wash the turkey. Then, put the turkey on a plate. Next, bake the turkey. Last, feed the turkey to friends.
Julian-First, put all of the stuff on it. Then, bake the turkey at 200. Next, eat the turkey and put it on newspaper. Last, party time!
Kyson-First, put the sprinkles on the turkey. Next, we put the Kitkats on the turkey. Then, we put the suckers in the turkey and gold the goldfish on the turkey. Next, put chips inside the bottom of the turkey. Last, put it in the oven cook it at 11° for 21 minutes.
Bowen-First, kill a turkey and cut it up. Then, put salt on the turkey. Next, put the turkey in a pot and flip it over to make sure it gets hot. Last, cook the turkey on 515° for 2 minutes. Then put sugar on it.
Hadleigh-First, buy a turkey. Then, put salt and pepper on the turkey. Next, bake the turkey in the oven at 5° for 1 minute. Last, put ketchup on the turkey and eat it.
Layton-First, I would put the turkey seasoning, salt, pepper and cheese on the turkey. Then, put chicken noodle soup on the turkey. Next, cut the legs off to make turkey legs. Then, grill the turkey at 25° for 24 minutes. Last, eat the turkey with steak sauce.
Cooper-Go to Walmart and get a turkey. Put it in a big pan. Put skittles and sprinkles on it. Put it in theoven. Cook at 180 for 100 minutes. Wash your hands and eat it.
Chandler
Ms. German’s class
Dayton- First, I hunt and kill the turkey. Next, I will put salt and stuff the turkey with fruit. Then I will cook it on the grill for two hours at 340°. Last, I eat it with my family.
Skyler- First, I go buy one at the store. I rub butter on the turkey. Next, I put salt and pepper on the turkey. Then, I put it on the grill at 500°. I cook it for 10 seconds. Last I get it off of the grill. I put it on the table. I eat it with my family. Yum!
Easton-First, I hunt my turkey. Next, I fry it at 103°. Then I get it out. Last, we eat.
Kenzie-First, I go to the store to buy a turkey. Next, I put on sauce and a little pepper. Then, I put it in the pot and cook it for 1 hour. Last, I eat it with my mom.
Braxton-First, I go to kill a turkey at the forest. Next I pluck its feathers. Then I put salt on it and put it in the oven on 360° for 8 hours. Last, I eat it with my family.
Brinden-First, I got to Walmart to buy a turkey. Next, I put apples around it. Then, I cook it in the oven for 100 minutes on 100°. Last, I eat it all by myself.
Ben-First, I would kill my turkey. Next, I would put salt and pepper on it. Then, I would cook my turkey in a pot at 900° for 5 minutes. Last, I eat it with Mrs. German.
Roman-First, I buy a turkey from a store. Next, I get salt on it. Then, I cook it on the stove at 205°. Last, I eat it with my mom and dad.
Vada Jo-First, I go to the store for a turkey. Next, I cook it at 250°. Then, I set it on the table. Last, I sit down and eat it.
Jasmine-First, I go buy a turkey. Next, I will cook a turkey in the stove for 5 minutes. Then, I will get some pepper and salt. Last, I will let my family eat it with me. I love my family.
Titus-First, I will go to the store to get a turkey. Next, I will put seasoning on the turkey. Then, I will cook the turkey in the stove for 1 hour on 1°. Last, I will take the turkey out of the stove and eat with my family at the table.
Aylen-First I will hunt a turkey. Next I will kill and cook it. Then I will time it for one hour. Last me and my family will eat it.
Kyson-First, I go to the store and buy a turkey. Next, I will put salt. Then, I will put it on 250° for 10 minutes. Last, me and my family eat it.
Ryder-First, I but a turkey. Next, I put salt and pepper on it. Then, I roast it for 16 minutes. Last, I eat it with my mom and dad.
Cassidee-First, I go to the store. Next, I would put pepper and salt. Then, I will cook it at 250° for 2 minutes. Last, I eat the turkey. Yum!
Brock-First, I go to the forest and kill a turkey. Next, I get butter and pepper and salt. Then, I put it in the oven 1 minute. Last I share it with my family. It tastes good!
Harlow-First, I go hunting. Next, I take its feathers off. Then, I cook it in the oven for 1 minute. Last, I eat it with dog Goose.
Mrs. Cryer’s class
Aspen-First, I would go to the woods. next I will tac the turkey heart out. Then I will put seasoning on my turkey. I will cook it fou 2 minutes. Finally I will eat the turkey.
Klara-First I will go to Walmart to get turkey. Next I woud tac off the wrapper. Then I wud cook my turkey with salt and pear. Finally we can serve the food to eat.
Hollis-First I get a turkey from a Walmart then I went homm. Next I am goen to wash my turkey. Then I am going to put seasoning on my turkey. Now I am going to cook my turkey for 26 minutes. Finally I will set the table then I will get the turkey and eat my turkey.
Gideon-First I am going to shoot my turkey. Next I will go wash my turkey. Then I will go put it to cook for ten hours. Finally I eat.
Coltyn-First I shoot the turkey. Next I clean the turkey. Then I put butter on the turkey. Finally I set the table and eat.
Jayde-First I will hunt for a turkey at the woods. Next I will take the feathers of my turkey. Then I will put salt and pepper on my turkey. Finally we will set the table to eat yum! mom this is good.
Thomas-First I need a gun so I will go kill a turkey. Next I will clean the turkey. Then I will my turkey for 1 hour and 60 sekis. I haft to mak it good. Finally I set the table and eat the turkey.
Korvyn-First I will get a gun to shoot a turkey. Next I will get the blod off the turkey. Then I will put my turkey in the fire. Aftr I will put in seasoning. I will cok it for 22 hoors. Finally I will get to eat my turkey. Yum!
Gavin-First I hunt a turkey. Then I shoot the turkey. Next I clean the turkey. Then I put pepper on the turkey. Then I put sauce and butter on it. Finally I will have turkey and have coke and ham.
Bentley-First I will go to the woods and hunt my turkey. Next I will tac the heart out. Then I will put on hot stuff. I will grill it for 4 minutes. Finally I will eat the turkey.
Casen-First I will go to Walmart and I will get a turkey. Next I will wash the turkey. Then I will take heart out. Then I will cook it for 2 hours. Then I will put seasoning on it. Finally I will eat the turkey.
Georgia-First I will get a turkey from Walmart. Next I will tac offmy wrapper frum my turkey. and I will clean my turkey. Then I will put on lemons for my turkey and put it in my oven for me for 5 minutes.
Piper-First I go to get turkey at Williams. Next I wash my turkey. Then I grill my turkey with some seasoning on it. I will cook for 10 minutes. Finally I will eat the turkey.
Corvus-First I get a gun frum my kabnit and I shoot my turkey. next I will clean my turkey. Then I will bake my turkey for 4 minutes. Finally I tak my turkey out and I fest.
Livvy-First I will get a gun and a bow and I will go to the woods. Next I will shoot the turkey and I will pluck off the feathers. Then I will tack it hoom and cook it and put it seasoning on it and put it in the oven for 3 minutes. Finally I will get the turkey out fo the oven and eat the turkey.
Eddie-First I hunt my turkey. Next I will wash my turkey. Then I will put salt and pepper on it. Bake it for 10 hours. Finally I will eat the turkey.
Baylor-First I shoot a turkey at the woods. Next I pluek the feathers off the turkey. Then put lemons on my turkey. Finally set the table and eat yum!
Kenneth-First I hunt a turkey in the woods. I wash my turkey. Then I bake my turkey four hours. Finally I eat my turkey.

J’ceon-How to cook a turkey. First put it on the oven. It will cooks for 5 min. Next, take it out of the oven. Then, fill it with stuffing. Finally, cut it up.
Ryder-First, put the turkey in the oven. Next, cook the turkey for one minute. Then, Take the turkey out the oven. Finally, eat the turkey.
Serenity-first, you buy it. Next, you put it in the oven. Then, you check on it. Finally you eat it.
Kayden-First take the turkey out of the bag. Then, take turkey out of the oven. I will put salt on it. Next, I will eat the turkey.
Jacob-First, catch the turkey. Next, cook the turkey for 20 minutes. We eat the turkey.
Elizabeth-First my mom will buy a turkey. Next, we will cook the turkey. Finally, I will eat the turkey.
Tayson-First, I will catch a turkey. Next, I will fry it in oil. Then, I will fry it on the grill for five minutes. Finally I will take it out.
Pyper-I buy a trke turkey. I fry it. I put pepper on the turkey. I eat it.
Grady-First, I will roast a turkey. Next I will put salt and pepper on it. Then we will taste it. Finally, we eat our turkey.
Myla-First buy garlic Next, buy salt. Then, buy pepper. Finally, put the turkey in the oven.
Waylon-First, make a campfire. Next, put it in oven. Then buy garlic. Finally buy pepper.
Teagan-First, my papa helps me. Next, we cook a turkey. Then, we put salt and pepper on the turkey. Finally, mmmm.
Chris-First put it on the grill. Next check on the turkey. It will look brown. Then, take it out of the grill. Finally, put it on the plate.
Bryce-First, put it in the oven. It cooks for 60 min. Next, take it out of the oven. Then, cut it up. Finally, eat it.
Sawyer-First, I will buy a turkey. Next, I will cook a turkey in the smoker. Then it will cook for 20 minutes until it is done. Finally, we eat the turkey.
Danni-First, I will buy a turkey. Next, I will put it in the smoker to cook. Then, I will put salt on the turkey. Finally, I will eat a turkey.
Haley-First, we will open the packaging. Next, we let the oven warm up. Put it in the oven for 18 minutes. Then, we take it out the oven. Finally, we eat it mmmmmmyum!
Mrs. Blankenship’s class
Josiah-First shoot the turkey in the woods with a shotgun. Next cut the butt, legs and feathers off. Then cook over a fire while holding it with a knife for two days and ninety seconds. Lastly cover with hot sauce, ketchup, ranch and eat.
Ryatt-First go to Walmart and buy one. Next my mom cooks it on the grill for seven minutes. Then add lots of ketchup. Lastly serve with corn and forks.
Brently-First kill turkey with snipper gun. Next remove the feathers and guts. Then cook on stove top for six minutes at one thousand degrees. Lastly serve with apples, corn, cake, Sprite, Root Beer and while you eat.
Bradley-First shoot with a gun in my grandpa’s yard. Next skin the feathers and chop feet off. Then grill for one thousand minutes at fifteen degrees. Lastly add grease and serve with cooked gravy.
Wyatt-first shoot a turkey in the woods with a bow and arrow. Next cut the head and feet off while taking the skin off. Then cook for one hour on the stove at five degrees. Lastly cover with butter and serve with carrots and green beans.
Eliza-First go to Walmart and buy a turkey. Next add ketchup and pour the blood out. Then place in oven for forty-seven minutes at three hundred degrees. Lastly put pie in the tur- key and drink sweet tea with it.
Hunter-First shoot a turkey in the woods. Next take the feathers off and cut the head off. Then cook in a oven for five minutes at six hundred degrees. Lastly add bar-b-que sauce and eat with a fork.
Avery-First buy a turkey for seven dollars at Walmart. Next cut head and feet off and remove feathers. Then cook in the oven for twenty minutes at five degrees. Lastly smear ketchup all over it while cutting it up and serve with pie and grapes.
Caitlyn-First go buy a turkey. Next remove feathers, leg and head. Then cook in the oven at six degrees for twelve minutes. Lastly add gravy and eat.
Kayden-First buy a turkey at the steak place. Next, take the legs and meat off. Then put it on the grill for ten minutes at 10 degrees. Lastly, shoot bar-b-que in the turkey and serve with bread and a fork.
Michael-First buy a turkey at Atwoods. Next remove the feathers and bones. Then cook on top of stove for twenty seconds at nineteen degrees. Lastly rub bar-b-que sauce on it and serve with pasta.
Alexis-First shoot a turkey with a gun at the lake. Next cut the head off, take the eyes out and remove the feathers. Then cook in the microwave for ten minutes. Lastly serve with bread and Dr. Pepper.
Weston-First shoot turkey in the forest with a shotgun. Next cut head off, pull wings off and drain all the blood. Then grill for one hundred minutes at five thousand degrees. Lastly pour gravy over it and serve with green beans and blueberry pie.
Kambrie-First buy a turkey at Walmart for five dollars. Next remove skin. Then cook on the grill at my grandpas for twenty six minutes at ten degrees. Lastly add salt and pepper and serve with salad.
Shelton-First I wrestle it to the ground while my dad shoots it with a fire gun. Next take the feathers off and drain the blood out. Then cook in the oven for sixty-one minutes at five degrees. Lastly pour blood back on it and add salt to eat.
Joy-First go to Walmart and buy a turkey. Next cut head and feet off. Then grill over a fire for twenty seconds at five degrees. Lastly add salt seasoning and eat with mash potatoes, chicken crossiants and Dr. Pepper.
Wyatt-First go to Walmart and buy a turkey. Next shake the ice off and check for any blood. Then cook it in the oven at one degree for one minute. Lastly splash with bar-b-que and serve with brown beans.
Caiden-First, tranquilize the turkey and pull the legs off. Next, drain the blood and extract the bones. Then, cook over a fire at one hundred seventy five degrees for fifty minutes. Lastly serve with apples and plums.
Meeker
Mrs. Jones’ class
Bayleigh-I would cook a turkey by taking the turkey by borrowing it from a farm, put it in the oven, and bake it. It’s done!
Preston-I would cook a turkey by seeing a turkey I would shoot it, and I will cook it, on fire, okay that is all I would do.
Harlen-I would cook a turkey by first shoot it and then cook it on a pan.
Lily-I would cook a turkey by going to kill one, cook it, put salt and pepper and then I would put lettuce on it. And then I would serve it.
Easton-I would cook a turkey by putting butter on it, and I will put it in a crock pot, and then I will take a knife and cut it up. Take the bones out and I will get fork and spoon make some mash potatoes and eat it!
Conner-I would cook a turkey by putting it in the pan, cook in it, and when it is ready to eat pull it out and eat it!
Carley-I would cook a turkey by find one first, and then put it in the oven, and then cut the leg, and then eat it!
Noah-I would cook a turkey by putting it in the oven, and then I would flip it, then I would eat it.
Rosemary-I would cook a turkey by geting a turkey, put it in the oven, and then I would eat some.
Dereck-I would cook a turkey by putting it on the stove, chop it, flip it and the put it on the plate and eat it!
Nathan-I would cook a turkey by putting it in the oven.
Kinlee-I would cook a turkey by I would cut little pieces and then I would cook it and then I would eat it!
Rhyet- I would cook a turkey by killing it, and putting in the fire and then we eat it!
North Rock Creek
Mrs. Scott’s Class
Tier- First, you have to catch the turkey. Then you chop the head off. You need to take the feathers off. Put it in the oven and cook it. Chop the legs off. Take the bones off. Then you eat it.
Sophia- My nana goes to buy a turkey. Then we get a big pan and put it in the oven. Next, we cut it in half. We all eat it.
Kannon- We put the turkey in a frying pan. Next, we put it in a pan. We cook it in the pan. We set it on the counter to cool. Put it on a plate. We eat the turkey.
Drew- Put the turkey in the fryer. Stuff it with lemons and meats. Put it back in the fryer. Cook it for 10 minutes. Take it out and put it on the table. Eat it!
Janyah- Put in oven. Cook until it is done. Take it out and eat it.
Akil-Stuff the stuffing in the turkey. Put it in the oven. Put the ingredients on it. Then the toppings go on it. Then I eat it.
Kane-First, you take off the skin and feathers. Take the meat out and save it. Stuff it. Put some meat in it. Next, you cook in the oven in a pan. Take it out and eat it.
Madelynn-Buy a turkey. Then you bake the turkey. Put the sauce on it. Now you eat it.
Brighton- Buy a turkey. Take all of the stuff out of it. Put it in the over. Put stuffing in it. Then we eat it.
Skylnn- Find the turkey. Then you will need to kill it. Cook it in the oven. Take it out of the oven when it is done and everyone will eat.
Brandon- Go the grocery to get the turkey. Then you are going to cook it. Take it our of the oven and eat it.
Grace- Turn on the oven. Put the turkey for 15 minutes. Then let it cool down so we can eat it. Then we will pray and then it is time to eat the turkey.
Aspyn- Go to the store to get a turkey. Next, cook it in the oven. Then cook it for 5 seconds. Then I would start decorating it with seasoning. Cook all the other food. Then we would eat it.
Bishop- Get the turkey from the shop. Fry the turkey. Put some sauce on it. Then eat the turkey.
Jude- Catch a turkey. Take the skin off of it. Cook the turkey for probably 50 minutes. Then take it out of the oven. Chop it with a knife. Then eat it.
KIba- Buy the turkey at the store. Bring it home and let it thaw. You wait one day. Then cook it the oven for 5 minutes. Then you can eat it.
Makenzie-Go the forest and grab a turkey with your hands. Put the turkey in the oven. Cook it for 30 minutes. Put it on a plate. Let it cool down. Then you can eat it.
Kinsley- Buy a turkey at the grocery store. Then let it sit in the sink to get more squishy like chicken. Put it in the oven for 5 minutes. Lay it the table and open the package and you eat it.
Mrs. Kellogg’s class Tyler-First I will take a turkey and put it in the oven. Then after it’s done cooking I will put some tomatoes and lettuce around it.
Clara-I will call a place where they make turkeys and wait for it to get there with the turkey. Next I will kill it. Then I will put salt and pepper on it and flour. Put it on the grill for 9 minutes.
Jaxtyn-First I will get the meat sauce and put it on the turkey. Then I will eat it.
Brooklyn- First I get a turkey then I put it in the oven. And when it’s done I will put it on a plate and then it will be done. I will put salt on it.
Kaison- First I will put the turkey in the oven and when it’s done I will let it cool down. Then I will put pineapples and cherries in the circles of the pineapples on the turkey. Then I will eat it.
Ainzlie-First I will buy my turkey. Then I will cook it in the oven. Then I will put vegetables around it and that’s all.
Cora-I go to the store and buy a turkey. Then when I get home I’ll set out all the ingredients I need. I’ll put some salt, pepper, olives, and eleven spices and herbs on it. Then I will put some other spices on it and put it in the oven for 28 minutes. When I take it out I’ll put the same spices on it again and slice some and put it on a plate. Then it’s ready to eat.
Tandem-First I kill a turkey. Then I cook it. Then I put salt on it and that’s all.
Brylee-First I will poke a hole in the turkey and then get some seasoning and put it on the turkey. Then I will put it in the oven and when it’s done I’ll take it out and cut it. Then I will eat it.
Josiah-I would shoot a turkey and then put it in the air fryer. Then I would put stuffing in the turkey. Maybe I would dip it in some gravy when I eat it.
Parker-First I put salt on the turkey. Then I will put pepper on it. Then put spice on the turkey. Then I cook it in the oven. Then cut it and eat it.
Addie-I will go to the store and go to the turkey section and get one. Then I will go home and cook it in my microwave. Then I will roast it a little bit. Then I will take out some spices sprinkle them on the turkey. I will get my favorite spice and put a lot of it on the turkey. Then I will put some mashed potatoes on the side and then eat it.
Sydney-First I will shoot a turkey. Then I will take everything out of it. Then I will cook it in the oven. Then I will eat it.
Liam-First I put stuffing in it. Then I will bake it in the oven for one hour. Then eat it when it’s done.
Nova-First I will put the turkey in the oven and then bring it to Thanksgiving.
Mrs. Roach’s class Macen-Cut it open. Take the guts out. Get the wish bone. Break it in half. Take the frying pan and try and pound the bones out. Then I cook the turkey, and I eat it. Then I break the wish bone and wish for another turkey.
Brielle-We put it in Brielle-We put it in the oven, and then we wait for it to cool off a minute. Then we put a little bit of black things, and then that’s how we make the turkey. We also put fake wings on it, take them off, and eat it.
Ava-Put it in the oven and then take it out, and then you start eating it.
Stryker-You pull off the feathers and you start putting those things on the legs. Then you put it in the oven and leave it for twenty seconds. Take it out, put it on the table, and wait for your family to come.
Raigen-My dad would shoot one with his bow and arrow. He would put it in the back of his truck. And then he would bring it home. Then he would put it in the oven. Then we stuff it up with stuffing. The last thing is we eat it.
Avery-You put it on the ground in the oven and cook it for 30 seconds. Then you take it off and put it in the oven for one minute. Then you put seasoning on it and put it in the oven for two minutes, and then it is ready to eat!
