Jimmie Ray Cummings was born February 16, 1937, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to OliverJamesCummings and Thelma Alice (Rattan) Cummings. He left this world on January 8, 2025, in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
One of seven children, Jimmie is preceded in death by both parents, three brothers and one sister. He is survived by two sisters. He married in 1963 and had three children with his wife before taking in another son in 1980 and becoming a stepfather late in life to another daughter. He also leaves behind many grandchildren.
Jimmie served with the 25th Infantry Division, United States Army at Schofield Barracks Hawaii from 1959 through 1961 as a Communications Specialist. He later served in the 1st Battalion 160th Field Artillery Regiment, OklahomaArmy National Guard. A celebration of Jim’s life was held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Lehman Funeral Home, who handled the arrangements.
