This Sunday is Mother’s Day. To me, along with Easter, it’s the most important Sunday of the year because it’s the day we honor the women in our lives, the mothers, grandmothers, greatgreat grandmothers and other women who do so much for us men and ourchildren.

Alumni weekend is fast approaching and the Class of 1962 will be celebrating their 60th anniversary this year. Friday night, May 27th, the class will be gathering at the FFA building which is attached to the south side of the old high school gymnasium, Memorial Gym.

McLoud to increase utility rates

The McLoud City Council, meeting as the Public Works Authority, has adopted a resolution to increase utility rates for residential customers. By adopting the resolution, the Authority members put in place the increase they passed during their March meting.

Even though the primary elections are two months away, it’s encouraging to see the number of candidates who filed for positions in the area at the county and state levels.

We heard the final six Senate bills in our House Appropriations & Budget Committee last week in advance of the April 22 deadline. We also passed bills in the Joint Committee on Appropriations & Budget. Now these bills are eligible to be heard on the House Floor.

I was stretched out in bed beside Kindra Friday night when I noticed she had posted on Facebook about her crawfish etouffee and Cajun music. We’d had the house to ourselves that evening, so she made the etouffee and had Cajun music playing in the background when I got home.

“Just arrived.” As soon as I got that text and the accompanying photo, I could barely wait to go home. Rushing home from a brief after-work meeting, I scooted onto a kitchen table seat, and carefully unwrapped the packaging to reveal a slim, shining, rose-gold object smaller than a notebook.

The mini-golf course is moving along. You might not be seeing many changes, but they are happening behind the scenes, and you will see them soon. We are making some additional obstacles for each hole which will be representative of that State’s hole.
