Our grandson Liam turned 3 years old on Tuesday. Wow, that just doesn’t seem possible, but it is. His little birthday party was last Sunday at our daughter and son-in-law’s home in Norman. Liam’s first birthday party was at our house.

There will be no more updates from me on any of the town’s activities. The new mayor, Jeff Wilbourn, called for a special meeting to be held on Wednesday, August 25 at 7 pm. The only thing listed on the agenda was to discipline, suspend, terminate or ask for the resignation of Dickie Walton.

Mom and I have recovered from our bout with COVID. We are out of quarantine and back to our normal routine. We do grieve for all our friends who have lost loved ones to this virus. Stroud has suffered so much loss recently, not only due to COVID but other illnesses and accidents.

Almost nine months ago, voters throughout Lincoln and Pottawatomie counties joined other Oklahomans across the state in soundly rejecting State Question 805. They shelved attempts to reform state sentencing laws. More than 70 percent of Lincoln County voters opposed SQ 805.

1. Update on Fireworks Display A. The Chamber of Commerce had a great make up event for the Fireworks Display. B. They shot off fireworks for what seemed like an hour. There were different patterns that exploded in the sky this year with different twist & turns.

Town Talk volunteers began work this week putting the golf holes together. We completed five of the nine holes. A big thank you to volunteers Julie Bivin, Heather Black and David and Janet Griebel for giving up a day to help make this happen.

1. Update on Highway 18 A. ODOT is still laying the third two-inch asphalt overlay. We are noticing the rock being applied at the shoulders of the asphalt for the lateral support. 2. Update on Fireworks Display A. The city workers have been mowing again all week at the lake.
