1. Update on July 3rd Fireworks Display A. Chamber of Commerce will be the sponsor for this year’s fireworks display. The Chamber sponsors a Golf Tournament each year to help fund the fireworks display. There are usually ten teams scheduled for the tournament held at the Chandler Golf Course.

Plenty of water

Recently, my wife Pat and I spent a Saturday afternoon volunteering at the first Corn Stock corn hole tournament held in Shawnee. It was for a good cause, we believed. It was a fundraiser for the annual Cops n’ Kids event that is scheduled for Aug. 28 at the Heart of Oklahoma Exposition Center.

Hunger for reading

I was hungry. It wasn’t until a feast was laid out before me that I realized. I was not just hungry. I was starving. I cracked open the first page of the book in front of me and began to devour the words. Letting my mind soak in the sweet details and the tart betrayals about the characters.

Monitoring medical marijuana

Medical Marijuana growing operations are surging in this area and other parts of the state. Because of concerns aired by citizens about some of these, Lincoln County commissioners and law enforcement have begun addressing those suspected of illegal activity.

I was taking in a deep breath when I noticed how wonderful the air was. It was crisp, and light as a pastry. I was not able to enjoy it for long though. After releasing my breath, I realized where I was. Stranded on a train stop in the middle of nowhere in France.

Town Talk is working as quickly as we can on the mini-golf course. I know everyone is anxious. I’ve also heard from parents that their kids are asking when it will be ready. Hopefully, by the time you receive your paper this week the fence will be in place, and we can begin moving in the golf holes.

Last night I picked enough purple and yellow snap beans to have what my grandparents would have defined as “a mess.” The yellow beans are Cherokee wax and the purples are, if I remember correctly, Purple Queen.
