As a member of a local civic club and another nonprofit organization, one of my volunteer commitments each year is ringing the Red Kettle Bell during the holiday season. I’ve been a member of the Shawnee Rotary Club a number of years.

Happenings at Prairie Pointe

Singer, songwriter and comedian Danny Miller of Meeker will perform at Prairie Pointe outside under the portico this Thursday at 4:00 PM. It’s supposed to be a beautiful warm day and we look forward to seeing Danny again. He always lifts our spirits and gives us a giggle.

Oh, my goodness! Don’t you just love the pictures Town Talk put up on the Horn building? It’s going to be nice to share a little bit of our community’s history with visitors and even our newer residents. A town can’t be around as long as Stroud has without having some rich history.

Dale: expense savings

Dale School Supt. Ky Wilkins discussed finances with his Board of Education during a meeting earlier this week, pointing out that expenses have been lowered compared to the same time a year ago. “We’ve spent about $1.85 million so far this year,” he told board members.

New Stroud tradition

Brian Niccum, owner of JB Landscaping, was born and raised in Stroud and wanted to give back to his community in the form of a new tradition. In the lot behind Sooner Motel on Main Street, JB Landscaping is hosting the first Tree Lighting Saturday, Dec. 12 starting at 5 p.m.
