66 Conference Championships

Chandler junior Leah Brannon, pictured at right as she hits the finish line, won the individual girls championship at the 66 Conference cross country meet at Prague last week. She finished the twomile course in 13:46, eight seconds ahead of Madison Ham, of Stroud.

Jones 27, Chandler 15

The Jones Longhorns came from behind in the second half and handed Chandler a 27-15 loss Friday night. The loss put the Lions at 3-2 for the year and 1-1 in district play going into this Friday’s scheduled game at Star-Spencer.

McLoud wins, faces Kingfisher next

The McLoud Redskins, coming off a resounding 48-20 win over previously undefeated Mount St. Mary’s, host No. 8 rated Kingfisher Friday night at Redskin Field. McLoud Coach Rusty Hall said kickoff is at 7 p.m. and pre-game homecoming festivities will begin around 6:30.

A different path - same destination

For the Stroud Lady Tigers, this year’s regional fastpitch tournament was the same scenario from the opposite perspective as last season.

Davenport bombs Yale

Davenport’s Bulldogs scored early and often Friday night in a 52-6 wood-shedding of Yale. They built a 44-6 lead in the first half, then ended things when Chance Acord hit Colton Van Fossen with a 45-yard touchdown pass and then for a two-point conversion in the third period.

Patriots 27, North Rock Creek 6

The OKC Patriots jumped to an 18-0 halftime lead and tarnished NRC’s homecoming, 27-6. Despite the loss, Cougars head coach Jason Murray said the game marked improvement by his squad, which is playing an independent schedule in its first season of varsity football. “We played better,” he said.
