Fastpitch state tournament

Stroud and Dale fastpitch closed out the season last weekend as two of the top four teams in the state in Class 2A. Stroud, winners in 12 of its previous 13 games, beat Amber-Pocassett 9-2 in the first round of the state tournament on Thursday, then fell 7-3 to finals-bound Dale on Friday.

Big win for the Tigers

Once they got past a penalty-filled first quarter, the Wellston Tigers had little trouble dispatching the Sunrise Christian Academy Buffaloes, 58-28, on Homecoming Friday night.

Stroud D keys win over Choteau

The Stroud Tigers picked up their first win of the season Friday, blanking Chouteau, 25-0. It was the first time for the Tigers to be on the field in almost a month, thanks to opponents cancelling games due to COVID-19 outbreaks.

Lions go to 2-1 in district play

Chandler hammered Star-Spencer, 41-8, Friday night, setting up a key district clash this week against Millwood, which is 2-0 in district after beating Meeker 40-0 on Saturday night. The Millwood game will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Millwood, instead of on Thursday, as originally scheduled.

Big weekend for North Rock Creek

There were a couple of huge firsts last week for North Rock Creek. On Thursday, the Cougars won their first-ever high school football game, taking a 28-8 victory at Choctaw.

Kingfisher 21, McLoud 13

The McLoud Redskins are 3-3 after losing 21-13 to eighth-ranked Kingfisher last week in a contest that Coach Rusty Hall said, “We just came up a little short at the end.” The Redskins are on the road tonight (Thursday) to take on ninthranked Anadarko at 7 p.m.

Pirates fall in first round

The Dale Pirates’ hopes of winning their second consecutive Class A fall baseball championship was cut short when they dropped a 4-2 decision to Silo in the first round of the state tournament. Dale Coach Eddie Jeffcoat said, “It was a good game.
