Lions manhandle Bristow

Chandler had its way against Class 4A Bristow Friday, scoring early and often en route to a 41-14 pasting of the Pirates. The Lions, now 2-0, got off to a 21-14 second quarter lead and stayed on the gas the remainder of the game.

Road win for Meeker

Meeker blocked a Purcell punt to score its first touchdown, then intercepted the Dragons in the end zone to finish the game. In between, Meeker lost seven turnovers, but still had enough defense to emerge with a 25-24 victory Friday night in Purcell.

McLoud loses in OT, Hartshorne’s up next

Coming off of an overtime loss to Bethel last Friday night, the McLoud Redskins expected to be preparing to play ancient rival this week. But not so fast. Harrah has so many players out due to COVID-19 quarantines, the Panthers can’t field a team, said McLoud superintendent Steve Stanley.

NRC falls to Konawa; home opener this week

North Rock Creek took its third road loss of the season Friday at Konawa by a 40-14 count, but the Cougars finally get to line up under own lights this Friday. It will be the first-ever varsity football home game for NRC, which is in the third year of its high school.

Family football legacy

Wellston High School returns a stand-out threesport starter for the 2020- 2021 school year. McKoy Coulson, a senior and expected four-year letterman, won Wide Receiver of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year awards in 2019 and 2020 for his football and basketball teams, respectively.
