Tips for coping with cold weather

At long last, winter has arrived in Lincoln County. However, with drops in the temperature come a plethora of issues if not prepared. Temperatures plummeted into the teens on Sunday and Monday morning.

William Alfred Grandstaff (W.A.), 99, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at his home in Carney, Oklahoma. W.A. was born on August 20, 1925, to Ira Alfred and Sophia (Danker) Grandstaff.He was raised in Lincoln County and attended Happy Hill School. W.A.

Hearings set in child pornography cases

A preliminary hearing has been set for a Chandler man who reportedly secured a job with Oklahoma Juvenile Affairs in Tecumseh and faces five felonies related to alleged crimes dealing with child pornography.

New Year’s Resolutions

To celebrate the new year, The Lincoln County News asked residents and local dignitaries in the county to share their goals for 2025. Happy New Year!- I’m not a big fan of New Year’s resolutions because they usually go in one year and out the other!

County commissioners

Lincoln County commissioners during their most recent meeting approved a low bid for equipment and outfitting of five 2024 Dodge Ram vehicles for the Sheriff’s Department.County Clerk Alicia Wagnon said the low bid was submitted by Light’em Up for $45,350.

Trial set in manslaughter case

A jury trial has been scheduled for a Texas man who faces a first degree manslaughter charge and who pleaded innocent during his arraignment A formal charge of first degree manslaughter was filed March 22, 2024 in Lincoln County District Court against Travis Smith, 46, of Dallas, Texas.

Trials set on felony drug charges

Jury trials have been scheduled for two McLoud men facing three felony charges each in connection with trafficking illegal drugs, cultivation of a controlled substance and possession of firearms during commission of a felony.
