Democrat meeting

Democrats in the area are invited to the next meeting of the Lincoln County Democratic Party on Thursday, Feb. 8. It will take place in Chandler at the Destinations restaurant, according to the group. Dinner and conversation will kick off at 6 p.m., with the meeting to follow at 7 p.m.

New pastor installed at Christian Church

The First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ in Chandler, announced the installation of its new pastor on Jan. 21. Lori Brisco Smithey is the new leader of the church, which has been shepherded by numerous pastors since it was established in late 1891, according to a release.

Rain-soaked roads

Last week’s ice storm across Central Oklahoma heavily damaged Lincoln County area roads and it will take some time to fix them. It impacted travel for those who use the roads daily, among them school buses and businesses.

Phyllis Ann Huff

Phyllis Ann Huff was born on July 5, 1939 in Sparks, Oklahoma, to Clyde and Flossie Shaffner of Davenport, Oklahoma. She was welcomed to Heaven on January 14, 2024. She passed away at her loving daughter’s home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 84.

Peggie “Townsley” Contway-Totten

Peggie Poe “Townsley” Contway-Totten was born July 31, 1925 in Sparks to Willis Lester Townsley and Zella Iva Bowman. She passed away January 8, 2024 at her home in Prague at the age of 97. Peggie was preceded in death her parents, daughter, five siblings.

James Conrad Hart

James Conrad Hart, of Chandler, OK, was bornonMarch19,1932, in Chandler to Earl and Gladys (Conrad) Hart. He passed from this life at the age of 91 on January 14, 2024, in Edmond, OK. Conrad lived almost all his life in Chandler, graduating from Chandler High School with the Class of 1950.

Freda Mae (Stein) Mullendore

Freda Mae (Stein) Mullendore was born September 14, 1937 in Wellston to Martin and Dora (White) Stein. She passed away January 10, 2024 in her home in Wellston at the age of 87.

Haskell Ray Danker

Haskell Ray Danker was born June 6, 1949, in Wellston and passed away January 9, 2024, in Oklahoma City at the age of 74. He was in the Army and later in the National Guard. Haskell was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and daughter.

Gary Lee “Butch” Simmons, II

Gary Lee “Butch” Simmons, II was born August 11, 1968 in Norman to Gary Simmons, I and Beverley (Carter) Simmons. He passed away January 10, 2024 in his home in Wellston at the age of 55. He proudly served his country in the United States Army.
