Martha Marie Mitchell, Chandler, Oklahoma, resident was born March 18, 1945, in Lawton, Oklahoma. She departed this life on September 13, 2023, at her home in Chandler at the age of 78 years. Martha was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, and four brothers.

First-ever Native Games

Perkins-Tryon schools and the Iowa Tribe held the first-ever Native Games last Thursday, inviting a number of area schools to attend. A total of five participated, including Perkins-Tryon. The others were Chandler, Agra, McLoud and Cushing, according to Chandler Schools.

Invest in Girls Day at OU

A group of 43 girls from Chandler High School attended Invest in Girls Day at the University of Oklahoma on Tuesday, said teacher Cynthia Snider.

Driver pleads not guilty

A driver arrested on the Turner Turnpike in January of the year who faces a felony and misdemeanor for allegedly using her vehicle in discharge of a weapon has pleaded not guilty.

Two to stand trial for cultivating

Two men from Okmulgee have been ordered to stand trial on charges of cultivating a Controlled Dangerous Substance after they were arrested by Lincoln County deputies last November and charged. The deputies reportedly seized 386 marijuana clone plants.
