Charges filed in Wellston animal cruelty case

Two women from Wellston who were recently arrested as the result of an animal neglect investigation that began in March now face 49 charges of animal cruelty. Formal charges of cru-9 elty to animals were filed in Lincoln County District Court on Aug.

Crash kills Davenport teen

A 15-year-old Davenport High School girl was killed Sunday evening in a one-vehicle traffic crash on Kendrick Road between Kendrick and Stroud.

Vertrice Mae Smith was born March 8, 1929 to Royal and Edith (Cremean) Waller in Lima, Ohio. She passed away August 12, 2023 in Wellston, Oklahoma at the age of 94. Vertrice grew up in Ohio. She married Dillard Smith in New Mexico in 1946. They moved to Oklahoma and raised seven children together.

Stroud is such a great place and to me it’s an exciting place. There is so much happening in the way of community improvements that it’s hard not to get excited. Kudos to our City Council for thinking outside the box and hiring Bob Pearman as our City Manager.

Lady Lions start 7-1

Chandler’s Lady Lions rang up seven straight wins to the start the fastpitch season. They gave up only eight runs in their first seven games, before suffering a 3-2 loss to Lincoln Christian in their home opener Monday.
