John Richard Nelson was born November 14, 1933 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He graduated from Chandler High in Chandler, Oklahoma where he loved sports and excelled in Football, Basketball and Track. John married Glendola Dunn December 6, 1950.

Stroud girls take state

Stroud’s Lady Tigers won five events and took the Class 2A state track championship Saturday at Western Heights. Senior Kileigh Mixon won the 100-meter hurdles and the high jump and teamed with Kenlee Parrick, Peyton Davis and Mattie James to win the 4x100 relay.
