Sunday afternoon I started searching for a couple of things in a desk drawer that I knew I could put my hands on pretty quickly. Or at least I thought I could. To me, they are significant because of my involvement in an organization that I have been part of more than 3½ decades.

McLoud approves election resolution

McLoud City Council members during their most recent meeting adopted a resolution for the notice of election this year. City Manager Cody Roe said Wards 1 and 2 will be up for election this year.

Arson charged in local jail fire

A $50,000 bench warrant has been issued for the arrest of a Prague man on an arson charge and an Oklahoma City man has been charged along with him. A formal felony charge of first degree arson was filed last month in Lincoln County District Court against Peyton Jade Nash, 22.

A twist to Story Time

Sandy Helm, longtime Assistant Librarian/ Children’s Librarian at the Chandler Public Library is retiring Jan. 23. The library staff and board are having a small reception for Ms. Helm after Story Time at 10 a.m. on Jan 17 in the Community Room of the Library.

Council discusses Chandler motel

Chandler City Council members Tuesday evening took the final action they needed to help land a new hotel in the city limits. Council members voted unanimously to rezone property at 621 N. McKinley from R-1, single family residential, to C-2, General Commercial with the proposed use a hotel.

Meeker board approves principal search

The Meeker Board of Education Monday night authorized School Supt. Jeff Pruitt to seek an interim elementary principal to finish out the current year. The board members’ action came following an executive session that lasted 1½ hours.
