Veterans Essays from Meeker

Meeker FFA chapter sponsored an essay contest for students as part of the school’s Veterans Day program on Friday. A panel of community members judged the essays and winners of each grade level received $15.

The Community of Chandler is seeking a nearly $1 million grant from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation to help fund a 1.1 mile sidewalk that will connect with an existing one completed earlier this year. Diann Herrmann helps head up the Safe and Healthy Lifestyles Committee in Chandler.

Mary Darlene Roberts was born on June 18, 1942, to Leon (Bull) Cunningham and Delrena (Self) Cunningham. She graduated from Crooked Oak High School in Oklahoma City. Mary married Leo Roberts on May 13, 1959. She had four kids Thomas Leon, David Clark, Joy Louise, and Stephen Dale Roberts.

Bob Talley, 73, of Emerson, Ark., formerly of Chandler, Okla., passed away Thursday, November 3, 2022, at his beloved country home, after a long and hard fought battle with melanoma. Bob was born on December 23, 1948, in Harlan, Iowa to the late William Owen and Magdalene Elizabeth (Thraen) Talley.
