Vernie Mae Stiles Schooley, long-time Chandler, Okla. resident was born Feb. 4, 1937, in Spiro, Okla. and departed this life on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, in Stillwater, Okla. at the age of 85 years. Vernie was the daughter of Edmond Edward and Esther Lunida Goff Stiles. Vernie married Billie D.

Early voting

Early voting begins Thursday August 18th for voters in Lincoln County. Voters who will not be able to make it to the polls on Election Day, have the option of voting early at their County Election Board.

Democrats to meet

The Lincoln County Democrats will hold their next meeting on Thursday, August 11 at the Lincoln County Courthouse in Chandler. Meeting starts at 7 p.m.

Coach’s hiring draws crowd in Wellston

A group of concerned parents in the Wellston School District attended Monday night’s board meeting, expressing concern over the hiring of a coach who is also an elementary counselor. Chad Hutchison was recently hired as the girl’s high school basketball coach and as an elementary school counselor.

Lincoln County On-Stage’s production of Annie Jr. will be performed on August 5 at 7 p.m., August 6 at 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., and August 7 at 2:00 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center on the campus of Chandler High School, 1001 S. CHS St.

My wife Pat and I had our little grandson Liam this past weekend. We went and picked him up Saturday morning and we had him until late Sunday afternoon when we took him home. Even though Pat and I were pretty worn out by the time we get back Sunday evening, it was a good tired.

Auditions for LCOS production

Auditions for The Secret Affairs of Mildred Wild will be held on August 7 at 2:00 p.m. and August 8 at 6:00 p.m. at Lincoln County On-Stage, 108 E. 8th Street in Chandler. Five men and four women are being sought for the show. Director David Timmons said there are large and small parts available.

The Dale Board of Education this week hired several teachers and approved capacity numbers for the beginning of the new school year.
