Six charges in arrest

Six charges, one felony and five misdemeanors, have been filed after Stroud police arrested a driver during a traffic stop. Formal charges were filed April 7 in Lincoln County District Court against Daniel Frank Kozlowski, 43, of Bristow.

Last week some area voters had the opportunity once again to exercise a freedom that too many people seem to overlook and just take for granted. They were the General Election school board races in three area districts. They included Dale, McLoud and the Perkins-Tryon school districts.

Town Talk

Veteran banners will be going up on Main Street this month and remain until November. They are still available for purchase. The cost is $125 for one side of a banner. If you would like to honor a veteran, please contact me at 918-527-9833. Veterans do not have to be Stroud residents or graduates.

Trial set for Carney man

A jury trial has been scheduled for a Carney man who faces a total of 13 charges after he was arrested earlier this year. Bobby Lloyd Johnston, 64, was arrested on Jan. 11 as officers served a warrant at 820575 S. 3330 Road in Lincoln County.

Stroud American Legion

The American Legion Auxiliary held its April meeting on Tuesday, April 5th. The meeting was rescheduled from the Auxiliary’s regular meeting time which is the first Monday of each month.

Meeker school board meeting

The Meeker Board of Education Monday night approved temporary appropriations for the 2022-2023 fiscal year. School Supt. Jeff Pruitt said General Fund appropriations are $8,133,751, building fund is $116,786 and child nutrition is $284,618.

She was the first woman elected as district judge for the 23rd Judicial District and after three terms serving on the bench has decided to retire. District Judge Cindy Ferrell Ashwood says she will retire at the end of her term in December of this year.

You’ve seen the signs throughout Lincoln County asking, “Please Pray for Blakelynn.” Blakelynn is the two-year-old daughter of Billie and Katy Ellick. She was diagnosed last year with neuroblastoma which is one of the worst types of cancer for children. Blakelynn has many relatives in the county.
