The Meeker Board of Education during its most recent meeting voted approval of a one-time stipend for all full time personnel, excluding the superintendent. School Supt.

Chandler vocal music students head to State

Chandler Junior High and High School vocal music students recently participated in the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association Vocal Solo and Ensemble contest at Tonkawa.

Chandler school board meeting

Chandler Board of Education members during their most recent meeting rehired all of the principals for the 2022-2023 school year. They also approved payment of a onetime stipend to certified teachers of $425 for each year of service in excess of 30 years for the 2021-2022 school year. School Supt.

Lincoln County Commissioners meeting

Lincoln County commissioners recently adopted a couple of resolutions and voted to accept the OPEH&W Health Plan package for the Fiscal Year 2022-23. The commissioners ad opted a resolution to appoint requesting, receiving, inventory officers for the District Attorney, Fair Board and Assessor.

Extortion hearing in April

A preliminary hearing is scheduled next month for a man charged with kidnapping for extortion and robbery weapon with a weapon. Those formal charges were filed in Lincoln County District Court on Nov. 18 against Xiaodong Zhang, 43, of Brooklyn, N.Y.

Daylight Savings Time returned this past weekend. According to the calendar, we’ll have it until Nov. 6 when it goes back. I’m happy for the return once again because there is more time in the evening for opportunities for activities.

March is full of birthdays in the Smalley household. I recently found out a dear friend of mine also celebrates a birthday in March – Pat Owens. If you have lived in Stroud any length of time, I’m sure you know Pat Owens. She was Dr. Market’s nurse for many years.
