William Edward Sporleder

Lifelong Davenport resident William “Bill” Edward Sporleder was born to Julius M. and Juanita (Castleberry) Sporleder on August 8, 1942, in Chandler. He died Friday, November 26, 2021, in Drumright, Okla., due to an illness caused by cancer. He was 79 years old.

Marvin Lynn Davis

Marvin Lynn Davis, age 93, of Perkins, Okla., died at his home on Tuesday, December 14, 2021. Funeral services were held Monday, December 20, 2021 at Immanuel Baptist Church in Perkins with burial following in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

James Dale Ledbetter

James Dale Ledbetter, of Meeker, Okla., passed away on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, in Shawnee, Okla., at the age of 72. James was born in Purcell, Okla., on May 28, 1949. He was the son of James Butler Ledbetter and Jimmie (Best) McNally. James moved with his family to California at an early age.

Melton back on Meeker board

Meeker’s Town Board of Trustees this week appointed a new board member and also voted to appoint a new vice mayor. They also discussed the idea of allowing employees to carry concealed firearms on city property and into city hall.

Luther man dies in county crash

A Luther man died this week in a onevehicle collision southwest of Carney. Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Broden Carls identified the man who died as Michael Brian Marshall, 52.

Commissioners approve safety bonuses

Lincoln County commissioners during a recent meeting adopted several resolutions and approved safety bonuses for several employees. They also agreed to purchasing a wheel loader in District 3.

Chandler Public Library will waive fines for food donations

Although the Chandler Public Library will be closed Thursday through Saturday, Dec. 23-25 for the Christmas holiday their food drive continues through Friday, Jan. 14, 2022. Non-perishable food items will be collected at the library through that date.

Abuse by Caretaker charge filed

Two people from Prague have been charged with felony abuse by caretaker for allegedly abusing a woman who had entrusted one of them to look after her animals. Each one also faces an additional charge of grand larceny, a felony.

McLoud Council votes to create Facebook page

The McLoud City Council during its most recent meeting voted unanimously to create a City of McLoud Facebook page. Members also adopted the McLoud City Facebook Page policy. Councilman Daniel McClure, Jr.
