Prague man charged

A Chandler police officer has arrested a Prague man for two alleged felonies committed against an off-duty Payne County Deputy Sheriff and his wife. Charles Nelson Brooks, Jr., 65, was formally charged Nov.

Man arrested again after guilty pleas

A Chandler man who pleaded guilty Nov. 2 to charges filed against him in September, was arrested a few hours later and faces a new felony. Brandon Lee Burns, 33, was formally charged Nov. 5 in Lincoln County District Court with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Seamster headed to trial

A Wellston man charged with first degree murder in the shooting death of a 21-year-old Lincoln County resident has been bound over to stand trial. Freddie Antonie Seamster, 38, is accused of fatally shooting 21-year-old Lucas Goss with a firearm in Lincoln County on July 5 last summer.

Charges filed against former Dale teacher

A former Dale school teacher has been charged with a sex crime following an alleged sexual relationship she had with a student at the school. Sarah Christine Sellers, 39, of Tecumseh, was charged on Nov. 30 in Pottawatomie County District Court with first degree rape.

Bulldogs fall in quarterfinals

Davenport’s unbeaten string ended at 12 last weekend in the State Class B quarterfinals when Balko handed the Bulldogs a 58-12 defeat in a contest played at Forgan. Veteran Coach John Greenfield, in his 18th season coaching the Bulldogs, said his team’s overall record was 12-1.

Stroud senior Zeb Blancarte, shown at right carrying the ball against Morrison, was named the offensive player of the year in District A-7. Blancarte was the Tigers’ leading rusher for the season, carrying the ball 119 times in 12 games and gaining 826 yards and scoring 12 touchdowns.

McLoud starting track program

McLoud High School is reviving its track program for the first time in more than 30 years and Coach Wayne Jaggers says he is really excited. Jaggers returned to McLoud this year after having taught and coached at several schools in Oklahoma and Texas since he left here in 2003.

Helen “Marlene” Gilmore went to her heavenly home on November 23, 2021 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas, at the age of 86. She was the daughter of Helen Pearl (Kilby) Broaddus and Cleo J. “Skeet” Broaddus of Meeker, Okla., where she spent most of her childhood years.

Lillie Mae Florer of Davenport was born to John William “JW” and Lillie C. (Price) Florer on Feb. 5, 1937, in Stillwater, Okla. She died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2021, at the age of 84 years. She graduated from Kendrick High School and worked as a nanny in Okla.
