We join the rest of our nation on this Veteran’s Day to say thank you to the courageous men and women who have served in our armed forces. The freedoms we enjoy as Americans have been paid for by our veterans and their families for more than 200 years. Thank you for your willingness to serve.

A contract has been awarded for nearly a mile of sidewalk improvements on Park Road in the city of Chandler. Chandler City Manager James Melson explained the project runs from Park Road Elementary School extending east.

Football playoffs

Chandler, Davenport, Stroud and Prague will be in the high school football playoffs, which start Friday night. Chandler will host the Perry Maroons and Prague will travel to Oklahoma Christian for the Class 2A playoffs.

Thanksgiving deadlines

Due to postal closures on Thanksgiving Day, we will have earlier deadlines for the Nov. 25 edition of the Lincoln County News. We’ll need obits, legal notices, ads and news in by noon on Monday, Nov. 22 instead of noon on Tuesday, Nov. 23, as we normally would.

Big stink over dead skunk

An argument over how to dispose of a dead skunk resulted recently in a felony charge filed against a man following his arrest by Prague police. A felony charge of domestic assault and battery by strangulation was filed Nov.

Kingdom of Heaven

The length of time is given to those who labor for the good of all man. I guess it is just about impossible to explain, but people who do things have more time even if they don’t realize it. I noticed this when I took off to have so-called fun that time was different.
