Letter to the editor

I was somewhat confused when I saw the new map of the Lincoln Co redistricting. I finally concluded that due to the fact that the portion of Lincoln Co that District 3 “inherited” was due to years of neglect it was the only way District 2 could shed the neglected roads to someone else.

Chandler plans Veterans Day activities

On Veterans Day, Thursday, Nov. 11, the City of Chandler will join others across the nation in celebrating and honoring all those who have served and/or continue to serve in the United States Armed Forces. The day’s events will begin at 7:30 a.m.

Prague boy is state royalty

Seth Pruett of Prague was crowned the new Oklahoma Czech-Slovak Prince at Yukon’s Czech Festival earlier this month. The 10-year-old son of James and Melinda Pruett competed in a stage interview and modeling the Kroj, which is the Czech and Slovak traditional dress.

County students honored

Several Lincoln County students were recently honored by the Oklahoma State University Ferguson College of Agriculture with academic scholarships for the 2021- 2022 academic year.

Legako on dean’s list

Gabrielle Legako was named to the Dean’s List for academic excellence at Biola University in La Mirada, Calif. Legako, a Psychology major from Wellston was named to the dean’s list in spring 2021. Biola students are placed on the dean’s list to honor those with a grade point average of 3.

Sierra Wade: Dancer

The lights shine brightly, illuminating the short green grass that is about to be trampled underfoot. As the football boys prepare to race across the field, the pom girls are poised and ready, too. Dressed in Stroud blue uniform and ready to have the crowd go wild, the girls take their positions.

Meeker hires mayor as administrator

The Town of Meeker has a new administrator. The Town’s Board of Trustees voted last week to hire Jeff Wilbourn, who was serving as mayor up through the evening they hired him, as the new administrator.

Salute to Veterans coming in November

The Lincoln County News will publish a Salute to Veterans in the edition of Nov. 12. The quickly approaching deadline to submit photos is 5 p.m. Nov. 4. The earlier you submit them, the better. The salute will include photos and each veteran’s name, rank and years of service.

Stroud: Four in a row

Stroud turned Homecoming into a real celebration Thursday night, hammering Allen, 46-0, and clinching a spot in the Class A playoffs. The win came behind a strong defensive effort and was the fourth straight victory for the Tigers.
