Shawn Wade Mills

Shawn Wade Mills passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2021 in Shawnee, Okla. He was 44 years old. Shawn was born August 24, 1977 in Carrizo Springs, Texas. He was the son of Delbert Wade and Hellen Ann (Skinner) Mills. Shawn attended both Prague and Drumright public schools.

Keith George “Pete” Ashinhurst

Keith George “Pete” Ashinhurst was born in Phoenix, Ariz., to Horace Keith and Myrle Irene (Watts) Ashinhurst on July 2, 1935. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 5, 2021, at the age of 86. Keith was living in Fort Smith, Ark., at the time of his passing.

Martha “Marti” Ann Wardman

Martha “Marti” Ann Wardman of Stroud, Okla., passed away peacefully on October 5, 2021 at the age of 87. Marti was born in Peoria, Ill., on January 21, 1934 to Margaret (Shall) Morgan and Eugene A. Morgan. Before making Stroud her home, Marti lived in Las Vegas, Nev.

Hearing waived in converter case

A Chandler man charged in July for stealing two catalytic converters has waived his preliminary hearing. Formal charges of grand larceny were filed July 21 in Lincoln County District Court against Justin Travis Ramsey, 33.

Chandler board sets election

The Chandler Board of Education during its meeting this week adopted a resolution calling for the annual school election. School Supt. Melody Toma said the Office No. 2 seat will be on the ballot next year. The three-day filing period is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 6 through Wednesday, Dec. 8.

No injuries in Sunday storms

No serious injuries have been reported in either Lincoln or Pottawatomie County from the storms that moved across the area Sunday evening. Lincoln County Emergency Management Director Brandon Morgan said Monday, “The storm damage I saw was mainly around U.S. 66/U.S. 177 to the east.

Felony charge for Agra man

An attempt to serve a warrant by a Lincoln County deputy led to a pursuit and the arrest of an Agra man on a new felony charge. He also faces two misdemeanors.

Chandler Library new books

The Chandler Public Library recently purchased over 20 new books including a young adult book by Chandler alumnus Ginny Myers Sain called “Dark and Shallow Lies.
