Heat gets to highway 62

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation reported earlier this week that U.S. 62 east of SH 102 in Lincoln County has been repaired. On Monday morning, ODOT narrowed the highway to one lane with flaggers about one mile east of SH 102 between 3330 Rd. and 3340 Rd.

A bail jumping charge has been filed and a bench warrant issued for a Stonewall man who failed to appear in court last month. A formal charge of bail jumping was filed in Lincoln County District Court on June 10 against Derek Wade Sheldon, about 40.

A Lincoln County jury has convicted the father of a youth he was accused of nearly starving to death almost three years ago. Jimmy Lee Jones, Sr., 37, of Meeker, was convicted of a single count of child neglect.

County holds Q&A on election issues

Lincoln County Commissioners and other officials during a meeting this week responded to questions and concerns of citizens about the upcoming election on a new jail and setting up a county-wide ambulance service. The election is scheduled for Tuesday, July 13.
