Chandler cheer camp

Instead of going to the University of Oklahoma for camp this summer, Chandler High School and Junior High had a home cheer camp. Universal Cheerleaders Association sent three staffers to train and practice routines, stunts, jumps and various other cheer techniques.

All-state fastpitch

After playing each other countless times through the years, four players from Dale and Stroud were on the same side at the All-State fastpitch game. Emelia Idleman, far left, and Danyn Lang from Dale and Jadyn Young and Emma Davis, right, were on the east squad for the small school teams.

Patricia Irene (Londagin) Jackson was born on January 21, 1949 in Gallup, New Mexico and departed this life on June 9, 2021 in Stroud, OK at the age of 72 years. Patricia grew up on the family farm in Custer County. She met the love of her life at 19 and married him 6 months later.

Ruth Evelyn Baker McCoy

Ruth Evelyn Baker McCoy was born April 22, 1927, in Parkland, Okla., and left this world June 8, 2021 in Stroud, Okla., at the Stroud Health Care Center. Her parents were Julius Postman Baker and Ruby Chloe Hale Baker.

Randy Bowen Chevrolet in Chandler donated $2,000 each to three local agencies on Tuesday.

Chandler board approves appropriations

The Chandler Board of Education this week approved its temporary appropriations for Fiscal Year 2021-2022, accepted the resignation of a long time teacher and also hired an instructor. The board also rehired all of its support staff, School Supt. Melody Toma advised.

Meeker Town Board approves budget

Meeker’s Town Board of Trustees have approved the proposed budget for 2021-2022 and they also have approved the proposed Public Works Authority budget for the new fiscal year as well. The Trustees have agreed to lease the Meeker Lake from July 9-11 for a Medical Marijuana Education event.

Six charges pending after crash

A Cromwell man faces one felony and five misdemeanors after crashing his vehicle during a high speed pursuit in Lincoln County. Formal charges were filed May 24 in Lincoln County District Court against Clayton Eugene Smith, 27. Associate Judge Sheila Kirk originally set bond for Smith at $5,000.

Fireman’s Muster highlights SummerFest

It felt like 110 degrees outside and there was not a cloud in sight. People watched in anticipation as the firemen began to hook up the various hoses to the fire truck. After what seemed like an eternity for set up, the water combat competition was under way with water going in every direction.
