It’s summer time, and local swimming pools are opening.
The Chandler public pool is currently closed, but they are hoping to open sometime in the next couple of days according to the city manager, James Melson.
Once it opens, the hours will be Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m and Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 1 p.m. - 6 p.m. They will have an adult water aerobics class on Tuesday and Thursday from 5 p.m. - 6 p.m, as well as a family swim from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.
They will be closed on Monday, according to pool staff. For children six years and under, it is $1, and they are to be accompanied by an adult. For those seven years and up, it is $2. A family pass is $125, but they also have single passes. A single pass for six years and under is $30 and they are to be accompanied by an adult.
For those seven years and older, a single pass is $75. Even though the pool is not open the splash pad is.
There is no cost, and the hours are from 8 a.m. - 10 p.m. everyday. It is located beside the Chandler public pool.
In Stroud, the public pool opened May 30 and no closing date has been announced yet.
There are no COVID guidelines, but they are keeping the people safe and clean by regularly wiping down surfaces and such.
Ages three and younger are free. It is $1.50 for ages four to 17, and $2 for 18 and up per day. For the season, a family pass is $70 and an individual pass is $35.
The passes are usable during regular business hours which are, Sunday from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday from 12 p.m. - 5p.m and closed on Mondays. Starting on June 8 through June 11, they will begin swimming lessons split by age group.
Ages four to five year olds will be from 11 p.m. - 11:45 p.m and ages six to nine year olds will be from 5:10 p.m. - 5:55 p.m. If you are interested in other classes that they will be offering throughout the summer, you can call the pool or ask upon arrival.
They will also be hosting midnight swims for $2 per person every other week from 10 p.m. - 12 a.m. starting June 18. They are having family swims for $2 per person every other week from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. starting on June 24. The pool is at Foster Park in Stroud.
The Prague public pool has not opened yet. They are doing maintenance on the pool and are hopeful to open sometime, by the end of the week according to Prague City Hall.
Their Facebook page, “City of Prague”, will announce when the pool will open as soon as they know. When it does open, there are no COVID guidelines and the hours will be from 1 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. If you are interested in having a party after regular business hours, call (405) 567-3403. It will cost $2 for a day for anyone who attends. An individual pass will cost $50, while a family pass can have up to four members will cost $120. The pool is on 9th and Sekera in Prague.
The McLoud splash pad opened on Memorial day and the tentative closing date is around Labor Day depending on the weather, according to operations manager Cody Roe.
There are no COVID restrictions, and there is no cost. Since there is not a lifeguard, they ask that there is adult supervision for those who attend.
Even though there is no one on duty, there are emergency numbers posted on site. It is open 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. seven days a week.
